Throughout our history, barn raising in farm country has always been a community building activity. Barn repair does the same. Skills and experiences that bring people together. Whether working for a few months or a few days, an immediate bond between those of diverse backgrounds watching out for each other and accomplishing unique tasks to keep our history alive and relevant today.

Here they are removing temporary support post that held the barn up while replacing the actual load bearing post, securing them w tie beams. 🙌🏻

The Martin farm Dairy Barn listed on Kansas and National Registry of Historic Structures preserves the natural beauty of the barn as built nearly 100 years ago. The gorgeous hayloft with cathedral-esque ceiling is being transformed with a dramatic stage into a space capable of entertaining its future patrons.

Who wants to hear live music in the middle of the beautiful countryside??

This is the original Herdsman House built in 1924 by Monte Martin for his Herdsman. It stands on the greater Historic Martin Farm, on the Southwest corner of Hillsdale Lake, in Miami County, Kansas. Herdsman House is now my home and the site of Herdsman House Farm.

Endock Martin purchased what is today Historic Martin Farm and erected this barn in 1879. It has been moved from it's original location and now sits behind Herdsman House. Basketball hoop is not original to the 1879 construction.
