HURRICANE CLEANUP: DON’T FORGET YOUR WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM!
With the recent hurricane, power outages, and boil water notices across our area, now is a good time to make sure your home’s water treatment equipment is properly sanitized.
If you have a Hague WaterMax water softener or a reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water system, there are some important steps you should take following a potential contamination of your water supply.
We’ve put together a simple guide explaining how to sanitize your equipment, flush your system, and get everything back into proper working order.
A few important reminders:
* Your water treatment system may need attention even after the boil water notice is lifted.
* Water softeners and RO systems require different sanitizing procedures.
* RO filters and membranes may need replacement after a contamination event.
* Always follow your water utility’s boil water instructions until the advisory is officially lifted.
