Just three weeks out from the Piedmont Founders day and Junklahoma event in Piedmont, OK. There will be something for everyone in the family including a parade, live music, food trucks, art and craft vendors, local organizations and I will be set up with a few things for sale as well as forging (how much and how long I forge will be heavily dependant on the weather). Come by and say hi if you get a chance.

This is the prototype of a new hunting set. The drop point is a pattern that I’ve found really useful. The other knife is the interesting bit of this set. It’s a knife with the very specific job of “unzipping” the torso on mid to large sized game. The blunted tip prevents damage to internal organs while allowing you to pull cut rather than push.

I’ll definitely be doing more R&D with these double-cut pork chops. At almost 2” thick that is a lot of meat. Smoked with cherry wood to an IT of 140°f then finished on a 600°f grill until done (should have pulled at 145°f but they were just over 150°f).

The little bird and trout knife with trout scales by Emily’s Casting Crafts worked great for dinner.
