Our small business was established in 1946 and has great name recognition and a solid reputation in our industry--the sales and distribution of machinery and cutting tools. We are seeking a full-time sales associate, and hope to hire within the next couple weeks. We are located in North Portland, right on the MAX line, and have our own parking lot.
We are looking for someone who has a great work ethic, is self-motivated, focused, organized, personable, with good customer service skills. We are small, just a few employees, so we all wear a lot of hats. You will help with incoming phone calls, emails and walk-in customers (post pandemic), and process orders and quotes generated by our outside sales staff. We use a Sage software program that you will use to type up orders and bids, and have physical inventory that you will pull and put in respective delivery areas. You may also be asked to do some purchasing with manufacturers, to help with UPS/FedEx receiving, and to do the occasional local client emergency delivery in one of our company cars, so a valid drivers license in good standing is required. Additional tasks assigned as needed.
Good computer skills are needed, someone who has sales experience and/or office administration background would be a plus. But mostly we are looking for someone who has a passion for doing a good job, and loves building relationships with our clients. Most of our customers have been dealing with us for decades, and we hope to have them trust us to fill their needs for decades more.
During just the first few weeks (training/trial period), you will work part-time, 25 to 30 hours per week. We envision that this will help you ease in to the role, and will allow your co-workers to give you the proper attention needed while also allowing them to get their other duties/work done in their scheduled hours.
We are open 7:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, and your regular full-time schedule will be 42.5 hours a week (40 regular and 2.5 overtime) within that time frame (either 7:30 to 4:30 or 8 to 5).
