Today's the day for more shish*to peppers. 😄

There's also tons of other lovely things available, including lots of tomato varieties (yes, including San Marzanos, Romas, Black Krims, SunGolds, and more), all the companion plants your hearts may desire, and the ornamental loveliness your borders have been begging for.

One of the best things you can do for your soil is keep it covered with plants. The shade from their leaves helps reduce evaporation and keep soil temperatures more consistent. Meanwhile, their roots help improve soil structure, feed beneficial microbes, create pathways for water and air, reduce erosion, and add organic matter back into the soil over time.

In other words: plants make more room for plants. 🌱

Whether you're filling vegetable beds, tucking herbs between tomatoes, adding pollinator favorites, or finally giving that bare patch of ground something interesting to do, this weekend is a great time to plant. The weather is still mild, the soil is workable, and your future self will be very happy you got it done before higher temps arrive.

This weekend is Mother’s Day, which gardeners around here know as the traditional “okay, NOW we can plant the warm weather stuff” marker. 😄
