Finished reseating these two cute chairs from Mexico.
Customer told me they belonged to his late mother who was so proud of them but never let anyone sit in them. She actually had them screwed to the wall!! There are holes in the back of the chairs where the screws went in!

I ordered material to complete the job and I need to ask any other caners out there, when ordering materials for very old chairs do you find it hard to match up the same size?
I had the supplier send me samples of three different sizes ( all in mm) and I ordered the closest match, but its not exact.

I also ordered "flat oval" reed for wrapping the arms and I was astonished when I saw what they sent. See photo. It's nothing like the flat oval I used 35 years ago when I was making baskets! Thoughts?? Im considering returning the flat oval. Thanks!

Sometime before the holidays of 2023, my cousin in VA mailed me this child's rocking chair. He found it in the attic of his deceased mother's home. We do not know of any history behind the chair. I said I would love to have it to repair and give to my grandson.

First picture is of the chair as it arrived (including the stuffed dog for grandson!)

I replaced the seat with pressed cane.

Last pic is the side of one arm as I imagined it was originally. Now I'm out of material! Stay tuned!!
