I don’t always use the drone. If the roof is walkable I walk the roof as a first option. Today after walking the roof I needed to get the drone up to inspect a detail that I could not get to by walking…so I had to make a quick trip up to 398 feet and see what else I’d could see. The Landings is awesome, lucky enough to have been out there twice this week.

The Friday Find. This week’s home inspection tip.

Your lint screen isn’t the only place lint collects!

On several inspections this week, I found lint buildup in dryer ducts and on exterior vent covers. That buildup restricts airflow, which can mean longer drying times, higher electricity bills, and potentially dangerous heat buildup.

Keeping the dryer duct and exterior vent cover clean helps you save time, save energy, and reduce the risk of overheating.

DOES THS REALLY MATTER? A house fire in Virginia last November was traced to lint buildup in a dryer vent. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but five people had to leave their home. A good reason to give that often-overlooked duct and exterior vent some attention.

A little maintenance goes a long way. If yours are due for cleaning, give them some attention—or have a professional take care of it.

It’s been a great week of home inspecting. Have a great weekend—Monday, we’re back at it!

Prince William County Fire and Rescue said no one was injured in the house fire tied to dryer lint buildup.

I truly enjoy my career as a Professional Home Inspector.

Since starting on this path I have been 100% absorbed, fascinated, obsessed…..

For the past three years, every work day, I either inspect homes, or on a rare day when I don’t have any inspections scheduled, I study and improve my knowledge, to better serve!

Today I had a day off and so I put in 8 more hours of study to complete the 4th part of a 4 part training and examination requirement to be certified by Internachi as a Post-Hurricane Building Safety Inspector.

In addition to my basic training to be certified I have accumulated quite a strong resume of additional certifications: which can be viewed on my website. https://www.ahomeinspector.com/qualifications/

Life is good. I am a very happy inspector.

Have a great weekend!
