Job Description: Plant Foreman (Sand and Gravel Operation)
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly experienced and skilled Plant Foreman to oversee the day-to-day operations of our sand and gravel plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the plant personnel, ensuring efficient production, and maintaining a safe working environment. This role requires a strong understanding of sand and gravel operations, as well as exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Leadership:
- Manage and provide leadership to the plant personnel, including operators, laborers, and maintenance staff.
- Assign tasks, set daily production targets, and ensure that deadlines are met effectively.
- Train and develop employees to enhance their skills and improve plant performance.
- Promote a positive and safe work environment, fostering teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement.
2. Production and Maintenance:
- Oversee all aspects of the plant operations, including primary processing, washing, and stockpiling.
- Monitor and optimize material processing to ensure high-quality product output and consistency.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff to schedule and supervise routine maintenance, repairs, and equipment inspections.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture at all times.
3. Quality Control:
- Implement and execute quality control programs to meet specifications and customer requirements.
- Regularly inspect products and processes to identify and address any deviations, maintaining product excellence.
- Collaborate with quality control personnel to analyze test results and implement corrective actions, if necessary.
4. Inventory and Logistics:
- Coordinate with sales and logistics teams to plan and schedule product deliveries to customers.
- Manage inventory levels, ensuring accurate record-keeping and appropriate stock levels.
- Optimize logistics processes to minimize transportation costs and achieve timely delivery.
Qualifications:
1. Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in sand and gravel operations, with a proven track record of successful supervisory and leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of plant operations, equipment usage, maintenance, and safety practices.
2. Technical Skills:
- Proficient in operating and troubleshooting various plant equipment, such as crushers, screens, conveyors, and loaders.
- Familiarity with software applications related to production tracking and inventory management.
3. Leadership and Communication:
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with employees and stakeholders.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, demonstrating a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
4. Safety and Compliance:
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to sand and gravel operations.
