Today, we celebrate Aaron Blom’s fifth anniversary with FGIA! Since joining the association in 2021, Aaron has made a remarkable impact through his technical expertise, innovative approach and warm, welcoming demeanor. His contributions have been instrumental in advancing the Education department’s strategic objectives, from training the next generation of InstallationMasters candidates to leading exceptional updates to the Fundamentals of Fenestration and FenestrationMasters programs. Aaron is also a friendly, familiar face at FGIA events and a valued colleague whose kindness and dedication strengthen our team. We are fortunate to have him with us. Every FGIA conference features the most important, pressing legislative and regulatory updates to support your business in both the U.S. and Canada. At the 2026 Fall Conference, Kathy Krafka Harkema, U.S. Codes and Advocacy Director, and Amy Roberts, Canadian Codes and Advocacy Director, shared their respective areas of expertise. Because of the rapidly changing nature of current political and economic climates, both Krafka Harkema and Roberts create detailed presentations, revising slides with new information until minutes before they are delivered. Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 4-10, and a Window Safety Task Force is reminding homeowners that doors and windows can serve as critical escape routes during a fire. The task force is comprised of members representing the and Glazing Industry Alliance - FGIA ( ) and the Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA). FGIA has shared seven tips for planning and practicing fire escape drills, including identifying two exits from every room, practicing how to operate windows and understanding how to quickly release window fall-prevention devices.
