In early 1994, Bob Haub and Mike Bruns decided that there was a need to change the face of millwork and windows in the Sioux Empire. On August 1, 1994, that idea became a reality when Builder’s Millwork & Window was established. Focusing on a service-first attitude, Builder’s Millwork & Window leaped head-first into the new construction market, providing customers with quality windows and millwork

with an unmatched level of customer service. Today, Builder’s Millwork & Window has grown into a truly full-service company with over 25 employees, and has recently opened their state-of-the-art Design Center on East 10th Street in Sioux Falls. 🪟 Window Installation Starts Before the Window Goes In

Proper installation begins with how the rough opening is prepared.

In this clip, we walk through the specific prep method used for the Marvin Essential line — a technique designed to help manage water and protect the opening.

Here’s the process:

📏 Cut across the top of the opening
📐 Make 45° cuts on each side
✂️ Add a detail cut 2" up and 3.5" over
💧 Prep the sill so the building paper wraps properly around the sill protector

These small details make a big difference in creating a window opening that performs the way it should.
