So, a couple of weeks back, I sharpened a pair of ice auger bits for a customer. Today he texted me video from the ice, one of them worked great, the other one didn't work at all.

Turns out the way one of the bolts was in kept the bit from contacting the ice. Turn the bolt around and they both cut great :).

Now where in the world are you going to get sharpening tech support when you're out on a frozen lake? 😀

I never get a true sense of just how much work the grinding equipment is actually doing since it takes off such a small amount.

Nearly 10 pounds of steel grinding cleaned out of the straight knife grinder coolant tank and the bandsaw sharpener oil tank tonight.

I might have been a bit busy recently 😀

I just added a 7"x12" metal bandsaw to the fabrication side of the shop today. Along with the lathe, milling machine, and heavy drill press, I've got the capability to not only make tooling for the sharpening equipment to accommodate different types of work, I can also do light general machining.
