The Gravix system proves to be a highly adaptable solution, even on challenging sites with multiple constraints. For a recent PennDOT project in District 11, Earth Wall Products successfully provided the design and materials for a retaining wall initially specified as a soldier pile and lagging wall. Given the tight site constraints and numerous utility conflicts, the Gravix alternative was an effective solution. This wall spans approximately 200 feet in total length and covers 2,260 square feet. To achieve the project aesthetics, an architectural stain was applied on-site. We'd like to recognize Allison Park Contractors for the outstanding build and Atlantic American Precast for casting the units.

Value Engineering With Gravix: Ridge Pike, Montgomery County 📍

We are excited to highlight a unique value engineering project in Whitemarsh Township, Pennsylvania where Gravix was utilized in lieu of a soldier pile wall. Earth Wall Products teamed up with Allen Myers to provide an economical retaining wall solution that would fit within the tight project limits and eliminate the need for deep foundations. The Gravix retaining wall also utilized an ashlar architectural finish and custom sloped top units to provide an aesthetically pleasing look. The project consisted of 4,266 SF of Gravix retaining wall units produced by Atlantic American Precast in Douglassville, PA

Earth Wall Products is proud to showcase this roadway railroad abutment project over a railroad in Arcade, Georgia, featuring our GRAVIX® Wall System.

A fun fact from the job: this installation utilized the largest GRAVIX X-unit ever produced, measuring an impressive 36 feet in length!

The retaining wall is being constructed by Williams Contracting Company, LLC at a rapid pace due to GRAVIX being a fully precast wall system. The GRAVIX units for this project manufactured by Piedmont Precast

Earth Wall Products teamed up with Crowder, CJGeo, Schnabel Engineering, and VDOT to value engineer 2 bridge approach retaining walls on the VDOT Route 58 SPSA Interchange project in Suffolk, VA. The VE solution used the integration of Gravix retaining wall units and Low-Density Cellular Concrete (LDCC) by CJGeo in lieu of the originally designed tilt-up concrete panels and EPS blocks.

This combined approach delivered substantial geotechnical and constructability advantages. As you can see in the pictures, the LDCC is placed as a self-leveling, self-consolidating fill and ensures complete contact in the irregular spaces behind the Gravix units.

The modularity of the Gravix system allows units to be stacked without backfill, making wall construction and LDCC installation independent operations. The LDCC and Gravix combination easily enables for staged construction with a surcharge mass, consolidating to a single settlement waiting period. After settlement, a middle layer of Gravix units will be cast with variable heights to accommodate settlement and maintain the final design roadway grade.

All Gravix precast units were produced by K.J. Williams Concrete (Jeffrey Zumbrun).

Phase 1 is complete. Teamwork made this dream work!

Fore! If you're coming into the 6th green here in Carmel off 126th Street take a look at the first ever Gravix wall in Indiana. Earth Wall Products partnered with HIS Constructors, Inc. to flip a soldier pile wall to prefabricated modular using the GRAVIX Retaining wall system. KJ Williams Concrete delivered an exceptional product and the crew will finish the job soon. This wall will support a multi-use trail in Hamilton County. This is the first wall in Indiana, but stay tuned, because it won't be the last.

We’re excited to share the successful completion of a retaining wall utilizing our Forix® units, produced by Atlantic American Precast in Douglassville, PA, as part of a water retention basin project in Allentown, PA!
This project was designed by Engineered Earth Solutions to effectively manage stormwater runoff, helping to reduce erosion and improve water quality in the surrounding area.
Our team worked diligently to ensure the basin was built to the highest standards—enhancing both functionality and sustainability for the community. It’s always rewarding to see a project come together that makes a positive environmental impact.

Segmental block retaining walls provide an aesthetically pleasing solution and are often the most economical grade change solution in a fill situation. Metropolitan Holdings reached out to Earth Wall Products for this project in Huber Heights, Ohio. Engineered Earth Solutions provided the design on a tricky foundation. Snyder Brick & Block and Block provided the Trinity Block. Earth Wall Products provided the geogrid and Structures built the wall. This project highlights the importance of having good partners in order to provide the right solution for the job. Stay tuned for Phase 2 of this project which we'll highlight in a few short weeks.
