Steel 101: Hot Rolled vs. Cold Rolled

Choosing the right steel for your project starts with understanding the key differences between Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled steel. Let’s break it down:

🟥 Hot Rolled Steel

Process: Rolled at high temperatures
Characteristics: Rough texture, rounded edges
Cost: More affordable
Best For: General construction, like railings, trailers, and gates

🟦 Cold Rolled Steel

Process: Hot rolled steel processed at room temperature, then annealed or temper rolled
Characteristics: Smoother surface, sharp edges, precise dimensions
Cost: Higher due to more labor-intensive processing
Best For: Aesthetic applications, like furniture, appliances, and precision parts
Both options have their benefits depending on your project. Need help choosing the right material? H & R Steel is here to assist you!
