I support Jo Gwen Phillips for Mayor of Stamps.

I don't normally post about politics or make my positions known, but if S&S Home Center / Ace Hardware is going to continue to do business in Stamps, something is going to have to change.

I have trespassed several shoplifters, belligerent customers, and flat-out thieves from our property. Yet they continue to come back, and nothing is done about it.

A few weeks ago, my manager was verbally attacked by a man in our store who had already been legally trespassed from the property. The confrontation appeared to be turning physical. Not only did the City Police not remove him from the store or issue any citations—they didn't even respond to the call.

In fact, of all the individuals we have trespassed, I haven't yet seen one single documented case with the City.

I don't know how long the current mayor has been in office, but I've never met her.

S&S Home Center is the largest retailer in Lafayette County and generates over $100,000 in sales tax each year—approximately $10,000 for the City of Stamps, $15,000 for Lafayette County, and $75,000 for the State of Arkansas. This does not include the thousands of dollars in property and real estate taxes we pay each year.

We have also asked the City to repair the 36-inch-diameter culvert that runs through our parking lot and have received very little support.

This lack of support makes it difficult to operate a successful business, and more importantly, it puts my employees at risk.

I'm Wes Stockwell, owner of S&S Home Center. I made a huge investment in the City of Stamps, and I don't accept failure.

I expect everyone to vote for the candidate they believe is best for Stamps. But I'm making my position known:

I'm supporting Jo Gwen Phillips.

Still 100% Prosecution Rate !!! Our last shoplifter took a $20 item. This was his sentence.

Passing on valuable information! One of our staff noticed their smoke detector at their home was beeping. This normally means it needs a new battery. After replacing the battery, he pressed the TEST button and the alarm did not beep as it should. This means the smoke detector needed replacing! He quickly purchased a new one from S&S Home Center! Make sure you periodically check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, replace batteries, and replace old units as they are not as efficient over time! BE SAFE!
