Spring is the perfect time to give your lawn and garden a strong start, but not all fertilizers do the same job.
Different fertilizers are made for different needs:
High nitrogen fertilizers help green up your lawn fast and encourage leafy growth.
Balanced fertilizers give plants an even mix of nutrients to support overall health.
Phosphorus-rich fertilizers are great for building strong roots, especially for new plants and gardens.
Potassium-heavy fertilizers help improve durability, disease resistance, and overall plant strength.
When reading a fertilizer bag, look at the 3 numbers on the front. Those numbers tell you the percentage of the three main nutrients:
Nitrogen (N) for green growth,
Phosphorus (P) for root development,
and Potassium (K) for overall strength and health.
For example, a 10-10-10 fertilizer is balanced, while something like 30-0-4 is designed more for green lawn growth.
Granular fertilizer is great for steady feeding over time, while liquid fertilizer works faster and can give plants a quick boost.
Before you fertilize this spring, think about what you’re feeding — lawn, flowers, vegetables, or shrubs — because the right fertilizer can make all the difference.
