Restoring a manual rotary lawn edger with a 1x30 belt sander. This vintage lawn edger blade had lost its cutting edge, so it's getting sharpened and brought back into service. Sharp landscaping tools make cleaner sidewalk edges, crisper lawn borders, and easier yard maintenance.

If your meat grinder smears instead of cuts, the problem might not be the meat. Dull grinder plates and blades turn a clean grind into paste. Sharp On Sight sharpens meat grinder plates, food processor blades, slicer blades, and select processing blades in the Madison, WI and Sun Prairie area.

I found this odd piece of material and had one question: What is it? Turns out it's not what most people guess. This is kangaroo tail leather, a unique material known for its strength, texture, and unusual appearance. Take a closer look and see if you would've figured it out before the reveal.

Not all sharpening methods produce the same results. In this comparison, I put four common approaches side by side: a pull through sharpener, a diamond stone, a whetstone, and a professional belt grinder setup.
Each method can create an edge, but the level of sharpness, consistency, and cutting performance can vary dramatically. Whether you're maintaining kitchen cutlery, restoring a worn edge, or looking for a faster and more repeatable sharpening process, understanding the strengths and limitations of each system matters.
This video demonstrates the progression from basic edge maintenance to professional sharpening techniques and shows why edge geometry, abrasive selection, and proper technique make such a difference in real world cutting performance.

If a tomato starts winning the argument, something’s gone very wrong with your edge.

This one wouldn’t even break the skin at first. No clean cut, no bite, just sliding across the surface like the edge forgot what its job was.

A proper edge restoration completely changed the result.

Years of improper sharpening completely changed the cutting profile on this 10 inch chef’s edge.

This wasn’t a basic touch up. The edge had to be fully reprofiled, thinned, and reground to get the geometry cutting correctly again.

A lot of performance gets lost long before people realize the shape itself has changed.

Hair shears and grooming scissors gradually lose their edge so slowly that a lot of people just get used to fighting them. Pushing harder, folding hair, snagging coats, and uneven cuts usually point to dull edges, not bad technique.

Professional sharpening brings that smooth cutting action back so the shears glide the way they were designed to. Salon shears, barber shears, grooming scissors, and clipper blades can all be resharpened and tuned back up properly.

Bring your knives, scissors, clipper blades, garden tools, mower blades, and anything else that needs a better edge. Drop them off while you shop and leave with tools that actually cut again.

Dull clipper blades do more than cut poorly. They can pull hair, snag fur, leave rough lines, heat up faster, and make grooming harder on pets, clients, groomers, barbers, and stylists.

Proper clipper sharpening helps blades cut cleaner, smoother, and more consistently. If your clippers are dragging, skipping, or leaving uneven results, they may not need to be replaced. They may just need to be sharpened correctly.

A properly sharpened clipper blade can completely change how a set of clippers performs. Cleaner cuts, less pulling, smoother operation, and better results overall all come down to how well the blade has been maintained and sharpened.

Clipper blades are precision tools, especially for groomers and hair stylists who use them all day long. It’s not just about making them “sharp.” The blade has to be sharpened correctly so it cuts evenly and performs the way it’s supposed to.

Whether it’s for pet groomers working with all types of animals, barbers and stylists handling back to back appointments, or someone maintaining their own equipment at home, properly sharpened blades make a noticeable difference.
