Pictured J.B. Jeffress and his wife Gertrude. Native to Tampa, J.B. started as a General Contractor in 1925. Serving both residential and commercial jobs, he ended up expanding his workshop in the 1930's. As B&B Grocery (now U-Save) grew in number of stores, he built the registers and store fixtures which were installed throughout the state of FL. By 1945, J.B. Jeffress & Sons (no children were involved) had expanded the workshop to double as a retail store. Selling Pittsburgh Paints, lumber, and basic building supplies, Gertrude was the mainstay of the store while J.B. continued both jobsite and workshop work. The couple responded to their community and grew the store through the early 1950's, until their son-in-law came onboard.
