How strong is the frame of the Shapeoko 5.1 Pro?
Pretty dang strong.

With thick-walled aluminum cross-members going under our original Hybrid Table, and heavy gauge sheet metal legs, the Shapeoko can support heavy workpiece like wooden slabs without a problem.

And because the legs are powder coated steel, you can drill and bolt on whatever accessories you want to it, like a shelf. Or stick on magnetic hooks or mounts for accessories. It's an incredibly strong and versatile platform for anything you want to make.

A quick test cut of acrylic (PMMA) on our new Nomad 4 desktop CNC mill. Acrylic (specifically cast acrylic, not extruded) cuts extremely cleanly as long as you use good speeds and feeds. Go too slow and you'll melt the material and gum up the endmill.

In this test we used our no. 102 1/8" endmill, no. 501 PCB engraver, and no. 301 90 degree V-bit.

Quick proof of concept for a Braille sign milled on . Although there are some challenges associated with using a CNC router for making a sign like this compared to using a more conventional braille engraving system, it is still very doable as long as you take the time to make sure you get your wasteboard flat and zero height dialed in perfectly.

Meet 'El Ocho', a set of 8mm shank endmills that help you maximize the cutting performance of your VFD spindle. You can push these tools harder, and cut deeper than you can with common 1/4" tooling.

- The 211 is a strong general purpose upcut endmill.

- The 212 is a ball nose variant for 3D finishing of larger projects.

- The 213 has a serrated cutting edge to shred materials, creating smaller chips that are easier to evacuate.

- The 214 is a compression endmill, allowing clean profile cuts in wood and some composites.

- The 311 is a 90 degree V-bit with more reach than the 301.

- The 312 is a 60 degree V-bit with more reach than the 302.

These cutters are compatible with all of our ER11/ER16/ER20 VFD Spindles.
