One bedroom, but plenty of room to spread out. 🏡

This 1 bed / 1.5 bath home packs an impressive amount of living space into its 36' x 36' footprint. Along with the kitchen, living, and dining areas, the layout includes a home office, mudroom, laundry room, sitting room, and a flex room overlooking the front patio.

That flexibility makes this plan about more than just the bedroom count. The extra rooms can adapt to the way you live. Whether you need a dedicated workspace, a hobby room, a quiet place to relax, or simply more separation between everyday activities.

Interior walls may look like a simple framing detail, but how they connect to roof trusses can affect the finished interior of a building. Roof trusses can experience movement as loads and temperatures change, and rigidly connecting them to interior walls can contribute to drywall cracking.
Our latest article looks at an approach that allows the roof trusses to move vertically while keeping interior walls properly aligned, along with drywall installation details that can help minimize cracking. Read more below, link in comments. ⬇️

🪚 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: #𝟬𝟳-𝟬𝟰𝟭𝟬, 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲, 𝗜𝗡 🔨

A workshop with room to spread out. At 40' × 60', this building offers plenty of open space for projects, equipment, vehicles, tools, or whatever the owner needs to keep under one roof.

Two 10' × 8' overhead doors provide convenient access, while the insulated roof, vented ridge, and enclosed overhangs add thoughtful details overhead. Finished in Light Gray with Charcoal wainscot and Brite White trim, the color combination keeps the look clean and classic without being too plain.

Shouses and barndominiums may be newer concepts in some communities, but that doesn’t mean they need an entirely new set of building codes. The key is understanding how these buildings fit within existing zoning and construction requirements.

Our latest article explores common questions surrounding permits and codes for shouses, including how post-frame homes can meet residential building requirements and when professional engineering is needed. Read more below, link in comments. ⬇️

Your building materials have arrived, but don't let a quick glance be your only inspection.

When you're excited to get your project underway, it can be tempting to assume everything is there and ready to go. Taking the time to thoroughly inventory your materials can help catch missing pieces, incorrect items, or damage before they become a problem during construction.

Swipe through to learn why this step matters before you start building!

Finishing a post-frame building involves more than choosing insulation and interior finishes. Details around the slab, foundation, and building support systems can affect long-term performance and some decisions are much easier to address before the work is complete.

This week’s questions cover perimeter insulation for a concrete slab, finding a builder for a Hansen building kit, and what to do when a concrete foundation fails inspection. Each situation highlights the value of planning ahead and getting the right guidance for your project. Read more below, link in comments. ⬇️

A well-planned layout can make a big difference. 📐

We’re always happy to hear when our floor plans help customers bring their ideas together and better understand how their space will work.

If you’re still in the planning stage and aren’t quite ready to commit to a building kit, we also offer floor plan services to help you get started.

Here’s what one client had to say about their experience.

With large windows throughout the home and multiple covered patios, this 3 bed / 2 bath layout is designed to make enjoying the outdoors part of the everyday experience. The 6' sliding glass door creates an easy connection between the interior and patio, while the covered spaces provide plenty of room to hangout or enjoy the view in a little more shade.

The exterior is just as inviting, pairing evergreen siding with a light stone roof and trim for a classic look. And with front and rear carports plus generous side-shed patios, there's no shortage of covered outdoor space.

It’s a floor plan that balances comfortable interior living, plenty of natural light, and outdoor space worth using.
