A St. The original Elevator was built in 1874, but was damaged in a fire. It was rebuilt in 1887 by Mr. Timmerman, a wealthy businessman and land prospector.

Louis landmark since 1874, our store combines the convenience and selection of a big-box hardware store with the personalized, friendly service our customers have trusted for generations. This was common for grain elevators at the time, due to combustion from dust and grains. After completion of the building, he then sold the Elevator to a "Farmers CO-OP" with a group of 20 or so shareholders. Bill Osdieck was the store manager along with Louie Pedretti for years. In 1976 after years of laying brick, being a police officer, and a municipal judge in Valley Park, Richard "JUDGE" Grellner decided to go into business for his family. Judge ran the store for years before his two sons Steven and Jeffrey took over the family business. Sadly, Jeff passed away on February 8, 2008, and Judge followed on March 23, 2008. We miss them dearly but still feel their presence working right along with us at The Elevator. The store is currently run by Steve Grellner, and his nephew Christopher. We are very much keeping the family tradition alive......

Today we’re giving a special shoutout to Chris—our very own diesel-powered war machine and fire captain. 🚒

From our family to all who serve: thank you for showing up for our neighbors, day after day. 🚒🚓

🎉 Wishing a Happy 30th, to Justin! 🎉

The shop’s unofficial air-traffic controller: keeping everything organized, the sodas stocked, and the garden spinners spinning—because apparently the artwork doesn’t assemble itself. 😄

Thanks for keeping the shop running smoothly and looking colorful. Hope your birthday is fully stocked with cake, cold drinks, and absolutely no organizing duties! 🥤🎂🌀
