Today The Robson Company will cease manufacturing and closing this chapter of our lives, we have set in motion our retirement plans. Since 1994, when we made the decision to create this company, we have enjoyed the highs and survived the lows of owning a business. But like life, nothing is permanent, ever changing. So Retirement was evitable, whether through our own choice or death do we part. However, it has been a continuous learning process. Something I embraced with open arms, sometimes to my folly, but learning none the less. I learned success is not measured by how much money is in the bank. Lord
knows we certainly failed at that effort. But success with the creativeness, ingenuity, & perseverance was certainly the high points in our business. I felt we rose from the ashes more than a few times because we trusted those that did not show worthiness of Trust. However we also had the opportunity to work with beacons of Light that made this journey all worth it. So we say Good Bye, and Hello to a new chapter. You will see the new in the new year! Thank you to all!

Today is a special day for Chris Robson. From this day on, his title will be Senior Associate since officially signing up for Government retirement benefits. IS he retiring, well not really, just a pay cut (working for free) and still opening the door each morning and likely the last one out each day. Where else would he go? His name is still on the business door, just a simple state of mind change, nothing more. but after 45 years in the profession, he wants to see a different view of the business. Tomorrow will not be any different than it has been for years, start the day with a cup of coffee, and let make it a good day.

Shipping out another mold this week. This is one of the bigger tools we have built. We normally build molds a bit smaller, but this is for one of our Tooling Customers, so it won't be used for molding at our facility. Nice 8 Cavity mold with a Hot Runner Half. Now if I could just shrink wrap our Apprentice before we ship him off to College...🤓

We have added the capability of a Fiber Laser. We now can do complex Logos and deep feature cutting that was difficult with an EDM. Also adding the ability to do Part Idenification and detailed graphics on fire arms. New capability, That's what we do.

There are projects that don't always come to you in perfect models, so we have to make the changes to get good parts. Taking the time get good Thread Data to make a great & functional part, is worth the extra effort, even on a low volume molds. This was for another molding company that uses our Tooling Capability. It is what We Do!

Today I start an axillary endeavor to give back for the people that have trained me throughout my Career. I have accepted an offer to become a Part Time Instructor for the Initial start up of a series of Plastic Injection Molding Courses at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama. As the saying goes, "Busy people will find time to take on a challenge and get things done, beyond the call.". Even though I am not quitting or retiring from my "Day" job, I believed it was important to help people get a head start on the growing technical needs of the Plastics Industry in the Northern Alabama Region. So Here is to some long days and exciting times, to see the future of Plastics grow long after I head off to the sunset of my career.

This should be read by every procurement manager and every CFO of a product based company looking for Cheap, Cheap, Cheap. And not everyone has the skill to be a Moldmaker, nor can it be found in a third world country to get a better price. So, Next time you have to make a choice for a medical procedure, do you go to a Medical Doctor, or do you go to someone that spent the night in a Holiday Inn Express? Well Moldmakers are like Doctors. The "profession" deserves respect, even though the Trade has been degraded over the recent decades by the paradigm that has been created by Academia that thinks everyone needs a Degree. Well, we need Moldmaker Apprentices more than we need another CPA.

The changing art, craft, and science of moldmaking has not changed what it takes to be a successful moldmaker.

Sometimes doing the right thing doesn't come with financial gain. Our involvement with Huntsville Fighting Covid has had a profound effect on the way we view Life and Service to the community. The Robson Company was and still is proud to have a small part in this massive effort to help our Front Line Heroes. Offering Faceshield frames was a labor of love, and the gratitude certainly is heartwarming.

One of the aspects of being a Small Business, is working with other small businesses helping them succeed. Unfortunately, in this age and time, Loyalty is lost by a business climate that is I and ME oriented. So even though that is the norm to do business with a selfish attitude of success, True success is not what "I" have accomplished, but savoring the accomplishments of others, and not forgetting all that gave of themselves on the path to success. For there is Joy in the Success of making each other stronger when we eliminate the "I" and embellish the "We".
