One year ago today, we lost someone who meant so much to the shop.
Nancy wasn’t just an employee, she was a force. A designer, an artist with incredible talent, a personality that filled the room and a passion for what we were building here that pushed all of us to be better.
We didn’t always see eye to eye. We went back back-and-forth more than a few times because we were both strong-willed and stubborn. She always spoke her mind. I can’t imagine it any other way.
She cared so deeply and to our success just as much as I did. She worried about me often… made sure I was eating enough, getting enough sleep and ALWAYS tried to keep the desk clean at the shop and the paperwork in order… She sure gave me a talking to when I screwed that up which was often. She was right. 🙂
I think about that day a lot… about timing, about what ifs, about whether anything could’ve been different. It’s taken me a long time to come to terms with the fact that sometimes you do everything you can and it still isn’t enough to change the outcome.
She was creative… thoughtful…driven and loyal. She believed in this place and she was proud to be a part of it. We were lucky to have her.
I’m grateful that her presence is still here in so many ways…in the work she touched, in the ideas she brought to life and in the standard she set without fail.
We miss you Nancy. I miss you.
