Just finished this antique dresser and I couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out! When I purchased this beauty it was a mess, but when I saw the knapp joints I new I had to have it. The Key hole inserts were either missing or half broken. It only had two wood caster wheels. Someone had replaced the pulls to k***s. The dresser had green paint in certain areas, lots of dings and dents on the top. And of course my favorite, it had spider webs and eggs all over.😱
I started by giving it a good cleaning and then sanded the entire dresser to raw wood. I also took apart the drawers so that I was able to sand the inside really well. I then put the drawers back together and sealed them with Dixie Bells big mama's butta. This brought out the beautiful rich tone of the wood. On the front of drawers and sides and on the main body of the dresser I did a custom paint wash using Dixie Bell chalk paint in the color chocolate and Fusion Mineral paint in the color Algonquin. I sealed it with Dixie Bells clear coat in flat. I used flat so that the dresser would still keep that beautiful raw look to it.
I then added all new antique inspired hardware, new key hole covers and new wood caster wheels. I love this dresser and I am excited for it to go to a loving home!
