Just finished this antique dresser and I couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out! When I purchased this beauty it was a mess, but when I saw the knapp joints I new I had to have it. The Key hole inserts were either missing or half broken. It only had two wood caster wheels. Someone had replaced the pulls to k***s. The dresser had green paint in certain areas, lots of dings and dents on the top. And of course my favorite, it had spider webs and eggs all over.😱

I started by giving it a good cleaning and then sanded the entire dresser to raw wood. I also took apart the drawers so that I was able to sand the inside really well. I then put the drawers back together and sealed them with Dixie Bells big mama's butta. This brought out the beautiful rich tone of the wood. On the front of drawers and sides and on the main body of the dresser I did a custom paint wash using Dixie Bell chalk paint in the color chocolate and Fusion Mineral paint in the color Algonquin. I sealed it with Dixie Bells clear coat in flat. I used flat so that the dresser would still keep that beautiful raw look to it.

I then added all new antique inspired hardware, new key hole covers and new wood caster wheels. I love this dresser and I am excited for it to go to a loving home!

It's finally done! This piece has taken me a bit if time. I have been so busy with working on improving my son's room, I have hardly had time to work on this piece. It's okay, not complaining. It's been a joy to work on so many projects.

First, I applied paint stripper to the drawers to remove all the paint. After that the drawers needed a little bit of sanding. I fell in love with the natural color of this wood so I decided to leave it just as it is. I did seal it with Minwax wax in natural. Once I saw how beautiful the wood was, I knew exactly what color I wanted to paint the rest of the dresser. I went with Jolie chalk paint in the color sage. It was a perfect color for this dresser. I then sealed the dresser with Dixie Bell top coat in satin.

I also applied Dixie Bells big mama's butta to the inside of drawer so the wood would have a new fresh look. All drawers are in great working condition and they are dovetailed drawers.

I am so very excited that the fireplace is done! It was a mix of colors that didn't go well together and was a bit of an eye sore. It now is a space that is claiming and brings my family and I great joy!

The brick was painted a cream color, I painted over it with Nano White by Behr. The fireplace surround was brass. I love brass, but for what I was envisioning for our home it wasn't going to work. I painted over it with Rust-o-leum High Heat spray paint. Which was so easy to use.

The Hearth took a bit more time for me to figure out. I wanted to find something that would be timeless, and would work with the age and style of our home. Not to mention it also needed to be a great fit for our style. I had so many ideas but so many of them just didn't feel right for the home. Once I spotted this pattern on Pinterest, I immediately fell in love and I knew that it would be perfect for our home.

Because I was painting the hearth. I needed to make sure that my paint would stick well. I started off by using Dixie Bell's White Lightning which is a TSP cleaner. It gets all the grease and grime off. After that I sanded the tile to make sure that there would be good adhesion. I then added zinsser b-i-n primer. Once the primer dried for 24 hours I applied Dixie Bell's chalk paint in the color caviar. I didn't want the entire tile area to be a flat black, so I decided to lighten the caviar paint a bit, followed by sponging on the original caviar color. Once the paint dried I hand painted each flower by using Dixie Bell's chalk paint in the color drop cloth and sandbar. I let the paint dry for 24 hours and followed by sealing it with Dixie Bell clear coat in satin.

I am so very grateful that it is all done. Yay!!! Now I am ready for fall and holiday decorating. So grateful I have this completed before the holidays get here. It took a bit of time, but so glad I did it!

My son's room is almost complete. It was a lot of work but I am so glad I did this. His room went from very uninviting to super cozy!

The walls in his room were stucco. I'm not a fan of stucco being in the inside of a home. This room was not very cozy at all!. Not to mention it was painted in a dark khaki color. I decided the only way I could hide the stucco is either hire someone to remove it, or shiplap. As most of you know I am a huge fan of shiplap so why not shiplap? Right?!

It was quite a process to get these boards up. I knew I wanted to leave a bit of a gap in between each board. My goal was that a bit of white would show in between each board. I had to paint the walls white first.I used a 3/8 inch tile spacer in between each board to get a nice even spacing. Because this room once was a three Season room I think part of the wall were brick and I couldn't nail the boards to the wall. My nails would go through the stucco and then it would stop. So I ended up using about 10+ Loctite caulking tubes to get the boards to stick to the wall.

My entire family thought I was going to paint the shiplap white, because let's face it, that's what I do is paint shiplap white. But I wanted his room to have a bit more of an outdoors earthy, modern feel. ( if that makes any sence. Lol) After I had all the boards up I needed to seal the wood. I used Minwax polycuric to seal it. I knew the sealer would end up darkening the wood, so I added a bit of white paint to my sealer so that the color would stay the light natural wood tone that I liked.

I also realized that the windows were not sealed properly. ( it's no wonder why the previous owner had told me that this particular room stays cold in the winter.) I ended up sealing around all the windows. Here's hoping this room stays warm in the winter.

There was also a lot of paint chipping on all the doors and the door frames same with all the windows. So I had to fill up all of those gaps and gouges and chipped paint. Then I ended up repainting the doors, the door frames, and the window frames.

Some of you may also be wondering why a green rug? I put a green rug in his room because he loves sports and being outside. I felt that by pulling in a green rug it brings the outdoors in. I also felt that I needed a solid color for his area rug. To me it seemed that a rug with a pattern to it would be too much, since his room is not very large. I have to say I do love the green!

This week I will be building him a wardrobe. The poor kids still living out of suitcases. And I will be ordering him a new light. Soon this room will be completed and then on to the next project.

It's still taking us a bit of time to get the garage put together so that I can get back to painting furniture. But here's another piece that I've accomplished while I wait to get back to painting.

The fireplace was painted a cream color and the surround was brass. Although I love brass the surround was a bit too much for what I like. I painted the brick in Nano White, which is the same color I painted the family room. I used Rust-oleums high heat matte black to paint the surround. If you ever consider painting your surround this is definitely the product I would go with. The paint went on so smooth and it gave great coverage. Just make sure you open all your windows and wear a mask. It is a bit smelly. Also cover the surrounding area and tape off what you don't want painted.

I am so happy with the way that this is turned out. Now it's time to figure out what to do with the hearth. I have a few ideas that I've been going back and forth on. Can't wait to show you the finished product. Also I need to find the right pieces for the mantle decor. Lol.

My son's room is a mess, but things are coming along. I am so excited!
