Penton's Auto Trim & Truck Accessories reached out to see if we had a way to switch out some fl**ge headed screws that had been causing problems for them and their customers. Did a little research and decided the best option was some 1/4-20 Phillips truss head screws. We just became a distributor for the E-Z Lok brand of threaded inserts and I knew this would be the perfect solution. I had never used them before and Rusty was kind and patient enough to let me install myself. Now I feel more confident in selling this product. And content that I could help another local small business find an awesome fastener solution!

These inserts are also available in stainless steel for anyone with a boat or outdoor furniture. If you'd like to hear how I did it, leave a comment and I'll post a step by step. Sorry, no video was taken, but pictures of the process are attached.

Seeking cookie recipes! If you don't know already, I usually have fresh baked cookies on the counter (don't worry, they are in a cookie jar lol). I took a break for the month of October (who can resist Halloween candy?!) However, the holidays are coming up and it's getting me in the feels. Ready to get back into the baking spirit and decided I'd reach out to the fb community for different recipes. What kinds of cookies do you want to see in the jar moving forward? We put this corkboard up with the intent of customers hanging pictures of possessions they have built using our fasteners. Today the first picture got hung! Physical photographs are becoming a thing of the past and we at National like the old school way of doing things, which is why we decided to put this up. So next time you are at the store, print out a picture and bring it by. This is not a promotional board, we have a corkboard for business cards right next to the front door for that. These pictures are for whatever was built for you, by you. Thank you and let's see what ya got!

Social media is personal yet impersonal. My intention is to do the opposite. You won't really see a lot of who runs the business until/unless you walk in the door. I will make this more of a "who we are as a business and what we offer page". I'm not interested in being a "camera" person. I have a lot of respect for those who do that, but it's not how I choose to do things. When I say "we" it is just me referring to the business and the ones who run it. At this time, it's only two people. And half of the day I am in the van taking care of the customers who have realized it is better to have bins in their shop that I just come and fill. (More on that in later posts). I could not do this without the help of someone MUCH more knowledgeable than myself. We make a great duo.
That being said, "we" is referring to the shop itself and "I" is me as a person posting. I love this little place and want others to love how personal I have tried to make it. I love building relationships with my customers and want them to feel like it's not a big box store type of place that they are walking into, but a comfortable place they can share stories with. Build friendships with. Run into old friends (which many customers do!)

I want to apologize for not posting anything for the past year. Been making some very positive changes to the place. Cleaning and organizing while trying to run a business makes for very little time to post.
From the outside in, things have changed drastically. We are and always will be that local, small town shop with quality fasteners. Whether it be a metric bolt, stainless for your boat, or that automotive clip for your car that you can't find anywhere else, we strive to offer the same standard products, with the same "actually fair" price you are used to.
These days we are doing it with better organization and a cleaner look. If you've never been before or never heard of us, you must not have very good friends. 😁 It's always been a word of mouth business but I'm ready to let the secret out! And I hope those who have followed me so far in my very small amount of posts are ready to as well.
Get ready for National Standard Parts to really let you know what we are about! And I thank you for all your support.

We are sorry to hear about Cindy's passing. She was a valued and respected employee for approximately 20 years. Although she was no longer working for us at the time of her passing, her name will always be synonymous with National Standard Parts. She was an integral part of the fastener business for a long time. She will be missed by many.
For anyone wishing to pay their respects this is the information:

Celebration of life will be Friday November 1st.
Viewing will be from 10 am to 11 am
Service will be at 11 am and will be held at My Father's Vineyard
7895 Pensacola Blvd.

If you are ordering flowers they can be delivered after 4:30 pm on 10/31 and 8 am on 11/1
Someone at MFV will be available to accept food on behalf of the family for those who wish to.

We hope to see you there.
