Kirk's Story: Birth of the Aurora

I have been professionally painting for about 6 years before taking a job painting military vehicles at a local body shop to make my way through college. We painted 5 ton trucks in poor lit conditions and the many angles created dark shadowed areas. Even properly lit areas create shadows on the product that is being sprayed. The only solution would be a product p

hysically attached to the spray gun. I began to envision, design, prototype, and develop the Aurora, an innovative product that attaches directly to the paint spray gun. Thus giving technicians better illuminated visibility to increase efficiency, decrease material costs and decrease technician error. This lightweight and durable product is having a major affect in the cosmetic process in the following industries: automotive, aircraft, boating, construction, and custom artwork. Not only does the Aurora provide better illumination but provides a state of the art color matching feature and a never before seen pattern center confirmation. Our mission is to help technicians create better finish products no matter the light environment. Come see us at lumaiii.com and see if the Aurora fits your spray gun. Innovation

If we could only keep one spray gun in the booth…

This would be it.

The EXODUS was designed to deliver the control, atomization, and consistency painters need across virtually every stage of the refinishing process.

From metallic basecoats to slick clearcoat applications, it’s become the gun we trust every day.

We spray everything with this.

If your clear always seems to have more texture near the end of the panel, your final pass might be the reason.

A lot of painters unknowingly speed up, pull away, or change their overlap as they reach the edge. The result? Less material, more texture, and extra work later.

Consistency wins. Keep your speed, distance, and overlap the same all the way off the panel.

Have you ever caught yourself doing this?

β€œI’ve used and abused my spray case! I love it! I keep my tack rags, static gun, and all kinds of things in it! I also love that I can just pull it off the wall and move it around the booth! Keep my bottles off the floor and my towels clean! Easy solution for keeping everything in one place in the booth!β€œ

Most painters blame dust, dirt, or the paint booth.

Sometimes it’s static.

Here are 5 reasons anti-static tools have become part of so many professional paint processes.

#5 Less Dust: Less static means less dust sticking to the panel before you spray.
#4 Cleaner Basecoat: Static attracts contamination. Remove the charge and your basecoat stays cleaner.
#3 Better Metallic Control: Static can affect metallic orientation. Neutralizing it helps metallics lay more consistently.
#2 Cleaner Clearcoat: Less dust in the base means less trash showing up in your clear.
#1 Less Rework: Less contamination means less nibbing, less polishing, and less rework.
