Fireflies are known for their beautiful bioluminescence, but these helpful insects spend most of their lifecycle lightless and flightless, feasting on slugs, snails and garden pests like cutworms.

Many have already emerged in their flying form this summer and can be spotted in backyards and grasslands. Insecticide-free yards are much more likely to twinkle on hot summer evenings!

For the first time ever, an invasive vine called pale swallow-wort in has been confirmed in Wisconsin, after being first reported in two counties.
