Can you imagine celebrating Christmas in this house on the lake? 😍
The lakefront house in Oudega in the Netherlands, clad with RHEINZINK blue-grey, invites its residents to return, amidst the fast pace of our society, to a simple way of life where fire is at the very centre of our most intimate living environment. The long and low block, with its two fireplaces at each end and a wide panoramic view over the snow-covered beach, invites everyone to rest and relax together. “The house should be suitable for a variety of uses – it should not feel big when occupied by just one person, nor small when fully occupied by 15 people”, said Jan Nauta, architect and founder of Studio Nauto. Sounds perfect for a contemplative Christmas – whether in a small circle or with everyone in the family! 🎅

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful!☃️
If you are still not in a Christmas mood despite all the Christmas songs on the radio, the first snow and fragrant biscuits, maybe you will be today with this hideaway in the middle of the snow.
During its spectacular construction in 2009, on the other hand, things were rather less contemplative for all those involved in the building: a famous architect, a sensitive landscape, a challenging concept, constructional, technical and logistical tasks, some of which meant breaking new ground for those carrying out the work. On top of that: extreme climatic conditions – heat, cold, rapid changes, one-sided sunlight, storm, rain, snow. All of this posed many challenges for builders, architects, craftsmen and the chosen materials. In the end, the effort was worth it. The retreat, clad in prePATINA graphite-grey is an impressive invitation to relax.

Youth Center with forward-looking architecture

The Youth Center in Pieve di Bono-Prezzo, Italy, is on the one hand intended to serve as a meeting place for the younger generation, and on the other hand, it can be used by leisure and sports clubs for cultural, social or sporting events.
At first glance, the center's special architecture makes it look like two buildings standing next to each other, but with a strong sense of unity. The aim of the architects of Eng Group s.r.l. was to combine functionality, flexibility of use and environmental friendliness. This is represented by the different materials that were used. For the facade and roof of the Youth Center, the architects chose RHEINZINK titanium zinc in the surface quality prePATINA graphite-grey, not only for aesthetic reasons. The durable material convinces with its sustainable properties and thus fits perfectly into the concept of the project. The special mix of the natural materials of the facade, creates a high-quality and harmonious overall appearance.

September Calendar Project: Zinc House New Zealand

The 2014 residential building in the North Island town of Waikanae, New Zealand, has many distinctive features: With spectacular views of the harbor on the hillside, the resulting gardens are also directly connected to a public park. The expansive nature is also reflected in the design of the building.
As part of research into the flow dynamics of New Zealand's harbor area, studies show both straight and curved courses. This finding was to be reflected throughout the architecture, which is why floor plan and cross-sectional forms of the upper floors are inspired by and derived from these flow dynamics. For the façade, the architects therefore chose titanium zinc from RHEINZINK in the surface quality prePATINA blue-grey. The flexible material can be used particularly well for creative purposes. The metal was laid using the angle standing seam technique, creating a regular rhythm that unifies the shapes of the building.

PICTURE OF THE MONTH: LUXURIOUS BUNNY-HOME

RHEINZINK titanium zinc - a building metal that is indispensable for roofs, facades, roof drainage and architectural details. Maciej Skowroński from Poland had the idea to use the noble material as roofing for a miniature house as well. To be precise, for a rabbit hutch.
"The size of the hutch is 86x90x75 cm. The dimensions of the roof are 108x50 cm, each side. The zinc panels are 21.2 cm wide and I installed them using the angled standing seam system, just like a normal roof. It took me about 18 hours to finish the new home for the pets," says the tinsmith.
We are sure the bunnies will be more than happy in their new luxurious home! 😍🐰🐰

August calendar project: Zinc for retaining tradition

The new Jordal Amfi Arena in Oslo, built on the footprint of its predecessor – the legendary Jordal Amfi – has a spectator capacity of 5,300 and an indoor area of 14,500 m² spread over four floors plus stands. Due to major redevelopement in the Jordal Sports Park the original open-air Amfi was to be transformed into a new stadium that is modern but still retains tradition.
The old Jordal Amfi was inspired by ancient theaters and built to host the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. Its dramatic intimacy with steep and asymmetrical stands, made it a unique arena. Oslo's history buffs wanted to adopt these design features for the new stadium.
Architects and builders thus decided on a roof made of RHEINZINK-CLASSIC bright rolled. The material is decisive for the appearance of the project, can be used flexibly and is therefore ideally suited for the asymmetrical roof surface.
