🧱 I didn’t expect floor tiles to stop me in my tracks.

But in Saigon, they do.

One afternoon I was standing in an old café, tracing the cement tiles with my eyes — the faded blues, the worn edges, the small cracks that looked more like memories than damage.

Each pattern felt alive, like it had been listening quietly to decades of conversations, laughter, maybe even heartbreak. These weren’t just tiles; they were time capsules.

There’s something grounding about that kind of design — when the work isn’t trying to impress, just exist well.
It reminded me that craftsmanship is a conversation between patience and purpose.

Now, whenever I see Saigon cement tiles, I think less about decor and more about continuity — the subtle art of holding stories underfoot.
