This tool was developed to help bushcrafters be more precise when sharpening their knives, giving them that razor sharp edge we all dream of. Not only does this lead to a grumpy bushcrafter, but more importantly can also result in a blunt and therefore potentially dangerous knife. The concept has been around for many years. Simply place the knife on an angled wedge when using a whetstone and it will automatically give the correct angle, allowing for a perfect grind every time. Unfortunately it can be difficult to make accurate wooden wedges, and these will often break after short periods of time due to the very thin edges. It was with this, 'The Wedge' - a modern alternative was born!
'The Wedge' was extensively tested throughout our development stages to not only be accurate, but also tough to standup to the demands of outdoor life. Please note, different knives will have different angles and we always recommend checking with the manufacturer before selecting your angle. At present we make the 11.5 - for the Mora Companion, the 13.5 - for the Mora Companion Heavy Duty, and the 16.0 for leatherman or Opinel Folding Knives. We can also make other angles if required.
