【Mower won’t start. The spark plug looks rusty. Do you need a new one?】

Maybe. But the rust in this photo is on the outside of the plug. To find out more, you need to look at the tip.

Let the engine cool, disconnect the plug wire, and take the plug out:

• Ceramic cracked or electrode badly worn? Replace it with the plug specified for your engine.

• Dry black soot on the tip? Check the air filter and choke too. Otherwise, the new plug could get dirty again.

• Tip wet with fuel after several starting attempts? Check the starting procedure and ignition before buying another plug.

That rusty outside is a reason to take a closer look. It isn’t enough to diagnose the no-start on its own.

【Engine won’t start? Ask your engine ④ questions.】

【Is fuel reaching the engine properly?】

Check for stale fuel, a closed fuel shutoff valve, a clogged fuel filter, damaged fuel lines, or a faulty primer bulb.

【Is the engine getting enough air?】
Check whether the air filter is clogged or soaked with oil, and make sure the choke returns to the RUN position.

【Is the spark plug producing a spark?】
Test it with a spark tester. If there is no spark, inspect the spark plug, electrode gap, plug boot, stop switch, and ignition coil.

【Does the engine have enough compression?】
Check for resistance when pulling the starter cord, or use a compression tester. Low compression may indicate problems with the valves, gasket, piston rings, or
cylinder.

Did You Know the Direction You Mow Matters? 🌱🚜

Most homeowners focus on mowing height, but the direction you mow can have a big impact on your lawn's health and appearance.

Mowing the same pattern every time can cause grass blades to lean in one direction and create visible wheel ruts over time. By changing your mowing direction regularly—horizontal one week, vertical the next, and diagonal after that—you encourage grass to grow more upright and create a fuller, more professional-looking lawn.

A simple change in direction can make a noticeable difference in the long-term health of your yard.

✅ Helps grass grow straighter
✅ Reduces soil compaction and wheel marks
✅ Improves overall lawn appearance
✅ Promotes more even cutting

Your lawn notices the details—even if you don't.

In 1902, the Ransomes team in Ipswich, UK, did something crazy - they installed a gasoline engine on a lawn mower, creating the world's first power lawn mower. 🛠️

This bold attempt not only changed the development trajectory of garden machinery but also freed lawn care from the constraints of human labor, ushering in a new era of mechanized mowing.🔧

🌱 Stop Overpaying for Mower Blades! 🌱

Just dropped an open box & real-world test of the HIPA 131-4547-03 Mulching Blade on the 22" Toro walk-behind.

Here’s what I cover in the video:
✅ Side-by-side comparison with the old original blade (you’ll see the difference)
✅ Quick installation – no struggle, no guesswork
✅ Live cutting demo – watch how it mulches & finishes the lawn

I know what you’re thinking:
❓ Will it fit my Toro? – Yes, perfect fitment on the 22" deck
❓ Does it actually perform? – See the grass fly – clean, even mulch
❓ What about the price? – Only $18.99 (way less than dealer blades)

If you’re tired of swapping worn blades or paying too much for a name, this HIPA blade is a no-brainer. Click the video, watch it work, and grab one for yourself. 🔧

A Spark of Genius: Faraday’s 1831 Discovery That Changed Everything.

Back in 1831, British scientist Michael Faraday performed a simple but brilliant experiment. He wound two separate coils of wire around an iron ring. When he switched the current ON or OFF in the first coil, a momentary current appeared in the second coil – with no direct connection.

That was the first proof of electromagnetic induction: a changing magnetic field can create an electric current.

Just a few decades later, the brilliant instrument maker Heinrich Rühmkorff used Faraday’s principle to build the Ruhmkorff coil – the first practical “induction coil”. By winding a primary coil (few turns of thick wire) and a secondary coil (many turns of very fine wire) around an iron core, and using an interrupter to suddenly stop and start the primary current, the coil produced dramatic high-voltage sparks – tens of thousands of volts.

This Ruhmkorff coil was the direct ancestor of today’s ignition coil in every gasoline engine. Without Faraday’s law, no spark, no combustion, no drive.

The first spark plug? It began as a science toy that shot corks across rooms.

🔹 1902 – Robert Bosch & engineer Gottlob Honold create the first reliable, mass-produced spark plug – and gasoline engines finally take off.

Have a great weekend.
