Tracey Emin at Tate Modern
I finally managed to see Tracey Emin’s current show and honestly…wow!!
It’s loud but somehow so intimate at the same time. Raw, emotional, deeply private, and yet completely self-centred in a way that just works.
Ugly and beautiful all at once, and I don’t mean that as a contradiction, that’s exactly what makes it land.
Genuinely one of the best exhibitions I’ve ever been to I can’t stop thinking about it. Curated perfectly.
There was so much emotion in the room which I didn’t expect.
Also, popped into the Frida Kahlo show while I was there but it was rammed, so couldn’t really take it in, that’s a return trip on a quieter day.
Even so, I caught myself comparing the two artists, which I didn’t want to do, didn’t want to pit two women against each other. But I did. Something to sit with.
