Measuring wind speed during the application of coatings is critical to ensure proper film formation, ensure safety, and prevent coating defects. High wind speeds can cause significant issues in coatings by forcing paint away from the target surface.

Here is why wind speed is measured during coating processes:

✅Ensuring Proper Application (Spray Efficiency): If wind is too strong while spraying, the coating can be distributed everywhere except the intended surface, leading to waste and improper coating thickness.

✅Preventing Coating Defects: High winds can cause premature drying of the coating (solvent evaporation), which leads to poor adhesion, uneven texture, or defects like "orange peel".

✅Safety and Environmental Control: High wind speeds can carry overspray to unintended areas, potentially damaging surrounding vehicles or structures.
