Ahmedia Paint & Hardware

The name Ahmedia derives from the founder, The Late Mr Adam Ahmed's surname being Ahmed, and his younger brother, Mr Ismail Ahmed. They took the first letter from each of their names, and added it to their surname to make Ahmedia. Ahmedia started as a small hardware on the corner of Klipfontein and Mavis road in 1965. nes road, Surrey Estate. After a short period of +/- 2 years, it moved back to its previous premises, due to many financial and City Council reasons. After being there for a couple of years, the company moved its premises to a new building just a road way, Ruth Road. The store was based here for many years, and in 1999, Ahmedia made its final move to Klipfontein road in Surrey Estate, where it stands today. The store in Ruth rd became Rylands Hardware, and carried on until 2013, when it closed and moved to the Helderberg. The Ahmedia Group established multiple hardware stores, such as:
