Waterproofing Made Simple
Waterproofing doesn't always need to be complicated. Sometimes you simply need a reliable, easy-to-apply product that can be used for a variety of applications.
That's where our SCC Bit-U-Guard comes in.
Bit-U-Guard is a ready-to-use, water-based rubberised bitumen coating designed to provide an effective barrier against water and moisture. It can be applied using a brush or roller, making it a practical solution for both contractors and DIY applications.
What makes Bit-U-Guard particularly useful is its versatility. From foundations to water features and almost everything in between, one product can provide solutions for a wide range of waterproofing requirements.
The rubberised bitumen dries to form a tough, flexible waterproofing membrane that can accommodate small movement cracks. For joints and areas requiring additional strength, it can also be used with our SCC Hydro Band reinforcing membrane.
Another important benefit is that Bit-U-Guard is non-toxic once dry and suitable for waterproofing fishponds, dams and water features once fully cured. This makes it an excellent option for garden and landscaping projects where water needs to be contained safely. For these applications, at least three coats are required, followed by a curing period of 10–14 days and flushing with clean water before filling.
Application is straightforward, with subsequent coats generally applied after just 2–4 hours, depending on conditions.
One important consideration is UV exposure. Like most bitumen-based waterproofing coatings, Bit-U-Guard requires protection when exposed to direct sunlight. For exposed, non-submerged applications, we recommend finishing the waterproofing system with SCC Bit-U-Tech Silver. This provides a protective, reflective coating that helps shield the underlying bitumen from UV degradation and extends the life of the waterproofing system.
For ponds, dams and water features, however, Bit-U-Tech Silver must not be used on surfaces that will be submerged. These applications require the appropriate Bit-U-Guard coating system, including the specified curing period before filling.
