More Than Scaffolding: keeping cyclists moving after a bridge went out of reach

After a ship collided with a cyclist bridge in the Netherlands, former users had to detour across a considerably higher pedestrian bridge for several years. Stair access to that bridge would have been extremely difficult for cyclists, so Stageco installed two temporary ramps, each about 150 metres long and 5 metres wide.

Using versatile Allround Scaffolding, the ramps were adapted to the precise dimensions, the required gradient and the sloping ground, as well as the positioning of ground anchors more than 8 metres deep close to the bank. Safety was built in throughout, with Allround extension parts such as guardrails with child protection available as standard.

An Allround solution for every construction phase

In Koblenz, Germany, twelve railway tracks separate the Rauental and Goldgrube districts. A new pedestrian and cycle bridge is closing that gap, 450 metres in total, with 80 metres passing completely unsupported over the live tracks below.

The challenge? Building it without ever stopping the trains running underneath.

Contractor Heinz Schnorpfeil Bau GmbH turned to Layher Allround Scaffolding for three combined shoring and work structures, engineered to handle serious vertical and horizontal loads while keeping the rail line open throughout construction.
