Recent storms across parts of South Africa have been a clear reminder that roof, and wall, performance depends on more than the visible structure.

A roof is only as secure as the connections supporting it. That includes the wall ties and masonry connections specified for the building’s location, exposure and wind load requirements.

SANS 10400-K sets out important requirements relating to wall ties, masonry construction and structural performance. For builders, engineers and contractors, compliance with these standards is not just a paperwork exercise. It helps ensure the roof and wall structure work together as intended, especially when buildings are exposed to severe weather.

MiTek Wall Ties are engineered for demanding conditions. They’re tested for coastal locations, extreme wind loads, and driving rain.

Available as galvanised and stainless steel options for coastal exposure, you can also expect MiTek Walls Ties to:
✓ Withstand lateral forces during severe weather events
✓ Work with brick-to-brick, brick-to-block and timber frame to masonry
✓ Meet structural and masonry building regulations
✓ Provide fast embedment into mortar joints - no specialist tools

When building, repairing or restoring roofs, take the time to check the specification. The right connection detail matters.

Ask your MiTek representative about the right wall tie specification for your project.

MiTek South Africa’s first Aspire story is here.
We’re excited to launch the first film, featuring Richard Polling, Co-Founder and Group Director of MRC Group.

In the video, Richard explains how Ultra Span has become one of MRC Group’s go to solutions for light gauge steel frames and trusses, thanks to its strength, span, durability and value engineering benefits.

On the Stadio project, where almost every truss was different and the façade tolerances were tight, early design work with MiTek helped the team get the structure right before it reached site.

It’s a brilliant first story for MiTek South Africa: a strong project, a serious technical challenge, and a customer who understands the value of early design thinking, good engineering support, and getting the details right.

A big thank you to Richard Polling and the MRC Group team for sharing their story with us.

Calculating roof sheeting quantities can still take far longer than it should.

That's exactly why MiTek South Africa developed the sheeting calculator within PAMIR.

Instead of exporting roof layouts into another system or manually drawing sections to work out quantities, the tool calculates and applies the roof sheeting directly in PAMIR.

It recognises the roof geometry, generates take-offs for corrugated, IBR or concealed-fix sheeting, and allows users to export the result straight into Excel for use with contractors or quantity surveyors.

For customers working on larger or more complex roofs, that can mean turning a task that used to take days into something done in seconds. It's a simple tool, but a very useful one. If you're already using PAMIR, this is well worth exploring.

Watch the video below to get a glimpse of how it works. ⬇️
