Sump flooded with petrol on this Honda GX r120 engine. Caused by a blockage in the carburetor leaving the needle stuck open

Is your machine loosing power underload? A blocked fuel filter is one of the main culprits. This fuel filter blocked up causing some debris to enter through to the Carburetor causing Peformance issues. Ensure to have a clean fuel container and no debris around the fuel cap.

If you’ve got one of these machines sitting in the shed needing repairs, don’t throw it away and buy a new one — get it repaired.

This customer dropped off a few pieces of equipment and asked if I could save this little Shindaiwa. Without hesitation, I told them to leave it with me. After a full service and repairs, it’s back running like it should and ready to be used and abused every day.

After working on countless brushcutters over the years, I still rate these among the best ever built. They’re lightweight, powerful, incredibly reliable, and have a simple design that makes servicing and repairs straightforward. Parts are also readily available, which means they can keep going for many more years.

Don’t let anyone convince you that replacing quality equipment with a cheaper modern alternative is the only option. In the past I’ve even sourced good second-hand piston and cylinder assemblies, completed the repairs, carried out a full service, and had customers back up and running for a fraction of the cost of a new machine.

The same applies to most outdoor power equipment. If it’s well built, parts are available, and it’s worth repairing, fix it properly. You’ll save money, avoid the headaches of lower-quality replacements, and get many more years out of equipment that’s proven itself.

This mower initially came in with a locked-up engine, which was traced back to a failed transmission belt idler pulley. The pulley bearing had completely collapsed, causing the pulley to seize onto the right-hand hydro gearbox drive pulley.

During the inspection, I also found all three blade spindles needed replacing due to excessive bearing wear and worn blade locators.

After a complete engine service, a full cutter deck rebuild, replacement of the transmission belt idler pulley, and a few minor adjustments, this machine is back to performing exactly as it should—running as smoothly as the day it left the dealership. 👌🔧

Another quality repair completed and ready for many more hours of reliable work.

Another machine ready to get back to work!

This Red Roo C100 wood chipper, powered by a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin, came in with an engine that would start and then stall due to a fuel system issue.

Upon inspection, I found rust and debris in the bottom of the carburettor bowl caused by old, deteriorated fuel. The carburettor was completely stripped, thoroughly cleaned, and all contamination removed to restore proper fuel flow.

✅ Full carburettor clean
✅ New spark plugs
✅ Valve clearance checked and adjusted
✅ Engine oil & oil filter replaced
✅ Fuel tank cleaned
✅ All grease points serviced
✅ Complete inspection and check-over of the entire machine

This Red Roo C100 is now running as it should and is ready to get back out on the job.
