The brief for this one? Keep the pool safe - and don't ruin the view!

This is a beautiful property in Wanaka. The whole place is built around what you can see from it, so the last thing anyone wanted was fencing that got in the way of that. We went frameless glass all the way around, kept the hardware minimal, and tried to make the whole thing as invisible as possible.

When you're working with a setting like this, your job isn't really to make a statement - it's to make sure nothing interrupts one.

We're lucky to work in this part of the world. The landscape does half the work. We just try not to spoil it.

If you're weighing up pool fencing options, here's something worth knowing before you decide.

Traditional fencing - timber, aluminium, tube and rail - all of it has a shelf life. It weathers, it corrodes, and after a few years it starts to look tired. Once the style has moved on, you're kind of stuck with it.

Frameless glass doesn't really work that way. There's nothing decorative about it, so there's nothing to go out of fashion. The glass stays clear, the hardware holds up, and it looks exactly the same in ten years as it does on day one.

The other thing that surprises people: it makes your pool area feel genuinely bigger. No bulky frames cutting up your view, no visual clutter. Just open space. If you've got a smaller yard, that difference is real.

And the maintenance question? We get asked this constantly. It's easier than most people expect. A wipe-down every now and then and you're done. No repainting, no rust, no replacing weathered posts.

It's not the cheapest option upfront. But if you're building something you want to still look good in a decade, it's hard to go past.

The view from your pool area shouldn't come with a fence in the way.
That's the problem we solve. Frameless glass pool fencing that sits quietly in the background so the landscape can do its thing. Mountains, water, gardens = nothing blocked, nothing cluttered.

We use 12mm toughened glass and we pay close attention to the details most people never notice until something's off.

The hardware, the line, the way it sits in the ground. Get those right and it still looks sharp a decade later.

Not a bad view to work with😄

We just wrapped up a motel build in Wanaka - Ascot aluminium balustrades running across every balcony, black powder coat to match the joinery. Loved working alongside McIntosh Construction on this one. Well organised, clear communication, and everything lined up perfectly on site. That's the kind of partnership that makes a job enjoyable.

When you've got repeating balconies across a whole building, consistency matters more than people realise. Get one wrong and it shows. Get them all right and it just looks like it was always meant to be that way.

Local work, local team. That's what we love most about jobs like this. 🙌

We installed this frameless glass pool fence in Rarotonga seven years ago.

Last month we were back - not because anything had failed, but because a coconut had taken out one of the glass panels. (Nature has its own agenda.)

When we arrived on site, we were genuinely impressed. Seven years of salt air, tropical humidity and Cook Islands sun - and the installation looked almost exactly as it did on the day we finished it. The spigots, the hinges, the glass, all in excellent condition.

We replaced the glass, adjusted the gate hinges, straightened up a few panels and gave everything a thorough check. A small amount of regular maintenance will now keep it looking great for many more years.

This is the standard we hold ourselves to. We're proud to put our name on work that still performs many years later - wherever in the world it ends up.

The details you don't notice are the ones that last 20 years.

Look closely.

The clean weld lines. The powder coat finish selected for UV resistance in a high-altitude alpine environment. The way the vertical aluminium profiles align with the timber battens on the cladding behind - not by accident, but because we talked to the builder before we fabricated a single piece.

This is what NZ made actually means to us.

Not just that it was built here - but that it was designed for here. For the UV levels, the temperature swings, the wind. For the kind of home that deserves fittings that look this good in 20 years as they do today.

There's something about lavender in full bloom that makes you want to sit outside forever.

So we made it possible to do exactly that - whatever the weather.

This glass slider pavilion creates a fully enclosed outdoor room that opens completely in summer and closes up tight when the cold weather rolls in.
