Total funds raised for the pool is at $335k! The outpouring of support has been nothing short of incredible. Pennsylvania has a pretty legendary place in the American flag story. The official Stars and Stripes were adopted by the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia on June 14, 1777, right in the middle of the Revolution. And of course, Philadelphia gave us the famous Betsy Ross story, with the local seamstress traditionally credited with sewing an early version of the flag. Historians still debate exactly how much of that legend can be proven, but the Pennsylvania connection is undeniable. The nation’s flag was born from a moment of rebellion, stitched into memory through Philadelphia, and carried forward as one of the strongest symbols America has ever had.
