Earlier this week, we showed off First Security Bank’s exterior. Now let’s talk about the interior—and how a simple elevator shaft became a showstopper.

Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects saw an opportunity. Instead of leaving it plain, they wrapped it in Manganese Iron Spot Smooth by Endicott Clay Products Company and rounded the corners to turn a simple shaft into a sculptural element.

Over 60,000 custom-shaped bricks later, they really took this elevator to new heights.

Looking for a truly unique look for your home? ✨

The weeping mortar technique is a custom installation method that gives new construction a historic, rustic, or timeworn appearance. Instead of striking the mortar, masons allow it to squeeze out and "weep" over the face of the brick, creating a charming, weathered finish often seen on English Tudor or cottage-style homes.

For this home, the technique was paired with St. Loraine brick by US Brick and Ivory Buff mortar from , but the possibilities are endless when it comes to creating a one-of-a-kind look.
